Jeffrey Reynolds and Andrew Emlen
Violinist and Cellist from Astoria
Reynolds and Emlen Duo have drawn on a vast range of musical experiences together to present unique and exciting performances over the recent decade. Their musical concerts shine with energy and sensitivity, along with their light-hearted presentations of natural and international history with authentic costumes and stories.
Striking a moment of energy in 2005, they formed the Emlen and Reynolds Duo after some years together playing in series of chamber music concerts and folk music gatherings. With the 200 year mark for the Lewis & Clark expedition well nigh, they studied the music of the era and donned authentic costumes to create a unique two-part program including music from both Thomas Jefferson’s original library and culminating with music from the trail of the Lewis & Clark expedition. This performance has attracted audiences ranging from the National Parks service and State Historical Societies of both Washington and Oregon to student groups and local organizations, and they were sought for a series of 200 year anniversary celebrations. Their music has been recorded for the National Archive, and they continue to surprise and delight audiences from far and wide who gather for local events and adventures.
Their repertoire has expanded over the years to encompass their favorite baroque and classical music for cello and violin including Bach, Corelli, Haydn, Mozart, ranging to modern Rumanian Gypsy tunes, and Bela Bartok.
